A distinguished vocalist\, Clayton crafts a broad range of stylized R&B with lush harmonies. Intergenerational quintet Mariachi Zomara will kick things off complimented by the DJ stylings of Cozmiika between sets.\n\n\nNumerous food vendors\, artist pop-ups\, and community organizations will also be on-site during the day!\n\n\nHoneypie’s ‘Great Midwestern Pie Championship’ is a crucial part of the festivities. Bake and enter your favorite pie to win prizes! Outstanding seasonal cocktails will be available from all three establishments in addition to caramel apples\, roasted corn and food from Frida’s Cocina Taco Truck\, Twisted Plants and more. Ramping up their acceleration around the time of their 2018 Cosmic Cash debut on Beyond Beyond Is Beyond Records\, they’ve blasted through residencies and new songs and sessions and collaborations\, relocating to New York\, picking up two new members in keyboardist/multi-instrumentalist Pat Gubler and bassist Andy Cush\, and leaving a trail of live tapes in their wake. This year\, they’ve delivered not one but two new albums for BBiB: the sleek and song-oriented Natural Facts and the sprawling improvisatory opus of One Step Behind. 2019 also saw the first performances by the full Garcia Peoples lineup\, a six-person behemoth with Spaldo on third guitar.\nWith a stash of live recordings accumulating at the Live Music Archive\, Garcia Peoples’ music is very much a living entity. Since the release of their previous two albums\, songs have started to expand\, jam suites have grown\, and experiments have been undertaken. The first part of 2019 has seen Garcia Peoples back Philadelphia guitarist Chris Forsyth (an expanded Solar Peoples Band has hit double-drummer overdrive several times now)\, and joined with guitarist Ryley Walker. They’ve improvised on WFMU\, and jammed with the sounds of ocean waves and falling rain at strange late night happenings. Probably something else new and wonderful and weird has happened in the Garciaverse since I wrote this.\nWhether or not you thought you knew Garcia Peoples’ music\, One Step Behind is something new and beautiful\, for new heads and old. DESCRIPTION:Doors: 9PM / Show: 10PM\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout this event\n\n\n$35 // 21+ \nKIKAGAKU MOYO \nKikagaku Moyo have come a long way – both literally and metaphorically – since their humble beginnings busking on the streets of Tokyo back in 2012. A tight-knit group of five friends who bonded over the desire to play freely\, and explore music associated with space and psychedelia\, their initial ambitions were modest – semi-regular slots in the cramped clubs of the city’s insular music scene. Yet the band’s progressive\, folk-influenced take on psychedelia marked them out from their peers and re-started Japan’s psych rock scene; it also brought them international acclaim. \nWith a settled line up – Go Kurosawa (drums\, vox)\, Ryu Kurosawa (sitar)\, Tomo Katsurada (guitar\, vox)\, Daoud Popal (guitar)\, Kotsuguy (bass) – and a signature sound that blended classical Indian music\, Krautrock\, traditional folk\, 70s rock\, and acid-tinged psych\, the band sold out shows across Europe and founded their own label\, Guruguru Brain\, to showcase not just their own work\, but the under-represented music scene in East Asia. \nTo date\, the label has released music from over ten different artists alongside their own albums. In 2017\, Kurosawa and Katsurada relocated permanently to Amsterdam. The move placed both Kikagaku Moyo and Guruguru Brain at the heart of Europe and eased the logistical challenges of long tours for bands on their label and release schedules while catering to Western audiences. \nSince then\, their popularity has continued to grow\, and Kikagaku Moyo are now one of the most acclaimed bands in the alternative psych scene. Having toured the world several times over\, they’ve also graced prominent slots at renowned festivals such as Bonnaroo (US)\, End Of The Road\, Green Man (both UK)\, and Concrete and Glass (China)\, and have been commissioned by world-famous fashion brands such as Gucci and Issey Miyake. Recent album Masana Temples received stellar reviews from the likes of Mojo and Uncut\, and the band were also invited to appear on acclaimed radio station KEXP. \nThe band are currently writing and recording what will be their fifth studio album\, and although their touring plans for this year have been severely curtailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic\, they will be back on the road – and appearing at the world’s biggest festivals – throughout 2021. \n  \n\n\nBeginning Monday\, August 9 \nEmpty Bottle will require all staff\, patrons\, and performers to provide : \nProof of full vaccination \nOR \nA negative COVID-19 test performed within the previous 72 hours prior to entry. \nHard copies\, photocopies\, or digital photos of the above are acceptable. \nMasks will be worn by staff at all times and will be required of all attendees when not eating or drinking — regardless of vaccination status. \nWe’re applying these requirements to all shows through Oct 31\, 2021 and will update the policy as needed or as new guidance requires. \nThis is a very difficult time for everyone to navigate and we understand that you may be frustrated. After three years of live shows in the Midwest\, the band hit the studio in the summer of 2019 to record to tape at Treehouse Records in Chicago. Produced by Andy Goitia (of Milwaukee’s Sleepy Gaucho)\, the self-titled debut album (released 2/7/2020) combines some of their most polished songwriting yet with the high energy and chemistry of their live show\, making for the first studio effort to give a proper snapshot of the group.\nLeft on Deming\, the self-produced follow-up project\, is a 6-track EP that was released one song at a time throughout the summer and fall of 2020. With studio goals of tracking live and keeping arrangements simple\, the project was pieced together quickly over one summer weekend of recording. By using synth-driven melodies\, fuzzed-out guitar riffs\, thundering drums\, and lyrical themes meditating on interstellar deities\, ASTRAL HAND searches for life and love in the universe at large.\nOver the course of the past 3 years ASTRAL HAND has been carefully programming their first transmission. DESCRIPTION:Monday\, March 13th • 7p • 18+\n$25 ADV // $30 DOS\n\nOs Mutantes (“The Mutants”) are an influential Brazillian psych-rock project that were synonymous with the Tropicália movement of the late 1960s. Tropicália harbored and presented world-class multimedia art that specified in critiquing Brazil’s regime. Popular musicians of the effort include Gal Costa\, Caetano Veloso\, founder Gilberto Gil\, and Jorge Ben Jor\, among others. When Os Mutantes formed\, they reached from a kaleidoscopic\, flower-poppy palette with acts from the English-speaking world like The Beatles\, Jimi Hendrix\, and Sly & the Family Stone to then meld the canvas with bossa nova\, tropicálismo\, samba\, and the cultural legacy of the Brazilian art vanguards from the modernist movement.\nThe Mutants are cited as a major influence to many acts in the United States and Europe. Beck paid tribute to the group with his single “Tropicália” from the album Mutations. Talking Heads frontman David Byrne has also worked to publish and promote the group’s music through his Luaka Bop label.\nKurt Cobain publicly requested a reunion tour from the trio in 1993\, writing a letter to Arnaldo Baptista\, but the band’s first live performance since 1978 was at London’s Barbican Arts Centre on May 22\, 2006 – (though without Rita Lee\, who was replaced with Zélia Duncan on vocals). This performance was followed by shows in NYC\, LA (w/ the Flaming Lips)\, San Francisco\, Seattle\, Denver\, Chicago\, and Miami.\nCactus Club and Rushmor Records are extremely excited to present this historical and influential touchstone of international music
